PERUGIA, Aug 11 (SW) - Australian international goalkeeper Zeljko Kalac is interesting AC Milan and is now available on a free transfer following Perugia’s enforced demotion to Serie C1.
‘Spider’ as he is known, due to his enormous frame, has expressed disappointment with current events, saying that each player will now go his own way. “We have greeted the exclusion from Serie B very badly, but now everyone will follow his own road. I’m very disappointed for the fans and Alessandro Gaucci, who remained on his own to lead this battle. I think and hope, that Perugia will continue to live and will return soon in the categories which it deserves,” said Kalac. The former Roda JC shot-stopper has been linked with a move to AC Milan, as the Rossoneri have limited faith in former Messina ‘keeper Dimitrios Eleftheropoulos to act as Dida’s understudy. Kalac is obviously delighted with talk of such a move and is hoping that the speculation turns into a concrete offer. “Also I heard these rumours. Hopefully Milan are really interested, playing in such an important squad would be a dream come true. Starting as backup to Dida would be fine with me. He has an extraordinary class, but in football you never know. And then being the second keeper at Milan is like being a first team player in other clubs.” The Rossoneri are not the only club to be linked with the Australian, with AS Roma reportedly also weighing up a deal for the player. “I know that they are searching for an experienced keeper and I am one. I don’t know if I can be a target for them. Still, going to Roma would be wonderful. The city is beautiful, the fans great and any player would want to play with Totti, Cassano and Chivu.” ‘For me now new important solutions can open up. I’m convinced that I will remain in Italy and move to a big club,” stated Kalac. |
