LONDON, Aug 10 (SW) - Fulham manager Chris Coleman is reportedly considering a move for Italian goalkeeper Christian Abbiati.
The Genoa shot-stopper is disappointed with the club’s recent relegation to Serie C1 following match-fixing accusations and is determined to be playing top-flight football in the upcoming season.
Having lost Dutchman Edwin Van der Sar to Manchester United, Coleman is desperate to recruit a top quality ‘keeper ahead of what should be a tough campaign for the Londoners.
Abbiati is reportedly interested in a switch to Craven Cottage and believes that a solid campaign could see him return to the Italian national team as backup to Gialuigi Buffon at next summer’s World Cup Finals, should the Azzurri qualify.
